Ted Mannen was named president and chief executive officer of Aventor (Washington). Mannen has led Aventors healthcare reimbursement consulting group since June 2001. Aventor advises medical technology companies and health industry trade associations.

Jay Picerno, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Centura Health (Englewood, Colorado), has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. With Picernos appointment as COO, Centura said it is conducting a search for a chief financial officer. A not-for-profit, faith-based organization, Centura Health operates 12 hospitals, eight senior living residences, and home care and hospice services along the Front Range of Colorado.

CRF (Waltham, Massachusetts/Helsinki, Finland), a provider of e-diaries for capturing electronic Patient Reported Outcomes data in clinical trials, has appointed Pamela McNamara as chief executive officer and member of the board of directors. Prior to joining CRF, McNamara was president and chief executive officer of Arthur D. Little and managing director of its global healthcare practice. CRF also named John Arcari chief financial officer. He previously held a similar post at Organogenesis.

Frank Spina has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Esoterix (Austin, Texas), a laboratory services company. Prior to joining Esoterix, Spina was senior vice president and chief financial officer for Specialty Laboratories.

John Yoon has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Paradigm Medical Industries (Salt Lake City, Utah). He replaces Jeffrey Poore, who served in those positions for the past year. Yoon joins Paradigm Medical from 3Com, where he was senior director of marketing, Enterprise Voice Division. The company also reported appointment of Aziz Mohabbat as vice president of operations and chief operating officer. He replaces David Cullumber, who resigned. Mohabbat had previously served as the companys COO and vice president of operations from 2001 to March 2003. Mohabbat rejoins Paradigm Medical after serving as division manager of the Medical Division of TUV Rheinland of North America for the last year. Paradigm Medical Industries develops surgical and diagnostic high-tech equipment and consumable products for the medical industry.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) has named Robert DeMichiei chief financial officer, effective May 3. DeMichiei currently is manager of finance, global business development and integration, for General Electric Energy. UPMC is the largest integrated healthcare delivery system in Pennsylvania and one of the leading nonprofit medical centers in the country.
